Microsoft .Net Framework 4 Could Not Be Installed

Hi,

Recently adjusted my setup to use .Net Framework 4 and when I run it I get the error message "Microsoft .Net Framework 4 Could not be installed". I've checked the forums and noted that perhaps the installer was attempting to install x86 on 64bit, but my msi code handles this and I'm sure is attempting to install the x86 version correctly. (This error is occuring on WinXP, I'm using InstallAware 9 R2).

Any ideas what could cause this?

Dear Gary,

What we normally recommend doing in this case is copying the runtimes that InstallAware is installing from the InstallAware\runtimes\net40_x64bin and trying to install them manually on the target machine.
Often times there will be an incompatibility, such as the target machine not meeting the minimum requirements to install the runtime.
Running the runtime manually will usually give you more information about the installation error than running it within IA.

Thanks for the response. I did follow that advice from other forum posts and the error I get says the 'framework cannot be installed on this computer' and directs me to the read me file. But I've checked the specs and the computer definitely does not have a hardware issue. Is there anything else I can check?

Running the web installer from Microsoft successfully installs the framework...

Dear Gary,

You might want to try posting on MSDN or some other Microsoft forum - the runtime that is included with IA is a valid Microsoft runtime, so you might want to check with them why its not installing.
