Copy local files does not work

You are correct - trying to install a file and then replace it in the same "breath" might not be the best idea

Sadly it seems that the problem is not fixed. The Copy Local Files works fine when the setup is run from the 'CD or DVD' option but it does not work when run from SingleFile option. This is very frustrating and i really dont want to spend $1000 to get the newer native installed version. I just want to copy a local file that is in the same folder as the Install EXE.

I have tried it using $ROOTDIR$ and $EXEDIR$. Both work fine for uncompressed install and neither work for the single EXE install.

Is this a known issue? Is there a way around this?

OK, looks like the following from the help file is misleading:

"EXEDIR: The folder containing the setup executable itself. "
"ROOTDIR: The folder containing the setup executable itself. "

You would think that a single file EXE would use one of those variables. But NEITHER are used.

However, this variable is used.
"SFXPATH: If an uncompressed directory layout is used, this variable is empty. Otherwise set to the full path of the folder containing the self extracting executable which bootstrapped the installer. "

Yep, SFXPATH is definitely the way to go - it will always contain the correct path, regardless of the deployment method you used..
