Error creating a .Net setup.

Sorry if this has been asked, but some Googling and forum searching didn't turn anything up.

I have just installed InstallAware12, and registered it. I'm attempting to make a .Net setup file. I select it, name it, and place it in my Documents folder, but when I accept the settings and attempt to actually make the setup, it tells me "The item has not been installed. Creating a Native Setup instead."

It then proceeds to create the native setup, and I can't open any of the forms or dialogs generated - even if I replace them with my own forms and dialogs. Any ideas on why this might be?

Please try removing InstallAware and installing it again.

I tried that, and it still gave me the same error.

Which operating system are you using? Which edition of InstallAware do you have? Are you installing IA from a web install or from the single-exe binary?

I am using Windows Server 2008 SP1, 64-bit. Installing InstallAware 12 Studio, and it's from the single-exe, yes.

Could you please try installing your binary of InstallAware on another machine? It seems to me that there is a problem with the specific machine you are working with, especially because reinstalling didn't make a difference.

I am working in an office environment, and the same binary .exe has been installed on one or two other computers (The license allows for it.), and it works perfectly on them.

Sounds like there is indeed a problem with the machine you are working on. Without further information it is hard for me to point out what the problem is exactly.

I see. What sort of further information can I provide? Not being able to use IA on this machine is incredibly inconvenient.

Do you have any irregular configuration / applications installed on the machine?

Not to my knowledge. Just Office and Visual Studio 2010, Google Chrome, as well as VS 2008. That's basically about it.

Can you think of any differences between this machine and the other machines that everything works as expected on?

The only thing I can think of is the fact that the machine IA is not working on is a brand new install - the other computers have a few year's worth of accumulated support software, etc. Which makes me think it would be MORE likely to work on this computer, but evidently not.

Is there any sort of prerequisite I might need, or anything like that?

There shouldn't be, as InstallAware makes sure that all its prerequisites are installed.
Please try running a Windows update.
