IA do not updates process list

Post by jweksej »

Hi,
in my installer written in IA10 I found out a problem with 'Check for Process' command. When I do it in loop after user action 'Retry', answer is always TRUE even if the process is not on process list. Is there a workaround for it?

The code:

label: RetryCheckRunningApp
Check for Process "$APP_NAME$", get result into variable RET_VAL
if Variable RET_VAL Equals TRUE
MessageBox: Installer, following application is still running: $APP_NAME$. Please close the application and start installer again.
if Variable RET_VAL Contains (Ignore Case) abort
Terminate Installation
end
if Variable RET_VAL Contains (Ignore Case) retry
GoTo Label: RetryCheckRunningApp
end

Hi,

First of all, the return value from Check for Process is either TRUE or FALSE and will never be abort or retry.

Furthermore, in my testing, the command returns the correct value every time - please make sure you actually terminated the process.

exactly
> and will never be abort or retry
abort retry is from MessageBox, see on indented code:

label: RetryCheckRunningApp
Check for Process "$APP_NAME$", get result into variable RET_VAL
if Variable RET_VAL Equals TRUE
MessageBox: Installer, following application is still running: $APP_NAME$. Please close the application and start installer again.
if Variable RET_VAL Contains (Ignore Case) abort
Terminate Installation
end
if Variable RET_VAL Contains (Ignore Case) retry
GoTo Label: RetryCheckRunningApp
end
end

Next 'Check for Process' returns TRUE again when there is DEFINITELY no this process in process manager list!

Did you check it on IA v.10?

What happens if you completely remove the iteration part and just call Check for Process?

Again, I tested this out also and it doesn't reproduce.

The first call returns TRUE, then I close the process and run the second call and it returns FALSE.

InstallAware 12. We no longer have access to version 10.

I do however doubt that this was a bug; are you able to install version 12 and check for yourself?
