Hi,
I have a 150MB setup file. The file is extracted fine but then, it takes up to a minute until the first dialog displays. By this time, users think something's wrong.
I have no idea what's causing this although I suspect it is because I've added one of the Visual C++ runtimes. I will check but nontheless - anyone got any experience? How can I show a please wait or something to keep them waiting??
Thanks.
First dialog of wizard takes forever to appear
Re: First dialog of wizard takes forever to appear
More info - I've checked and indeed removing the C++ runtime solves the problem but why would it take so long to check if prerequisites are required?
So how can I force the runtimes to be installed rather than checking for them?
Or show some dialog while it's checking?? This is horrible UX.
I'm looking for an answer other than - download the redistributable EXE from MS and install it yourself...
Thanks.

Re: First dialog of wizard takes forever to appear
Search your setup for an Include Script command that includes the check script for your VC runtime.
Then, you can create a dialog (using the Form Editor) and display that dialog before the check script.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
