A network error...

Post by stevepro »

OS: XP Pro SP3
InstallAware 10 & 12

One of my clients has in issue with the installer where the mia1 folder is created in C:\windows\temp rather than on C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp as when I test on my XP Pro instance.

In addition, the user runs the installer from the desktop and the msi file is placed on the desktop.

This works on everybody's machine except this one customer so clearly this is environmental.

The big question is. Why is the installer using \WINDOWS\Temp only on his computer.

If anybody could shed some light on this issue I would certaily appreciate it.

Are you able to / have you tested this on another machine with the same OS?

Is anything specific installed on the user's machine? Anti-virus maybe?

Ok now I have been on a session with the support rep and the problem is not what was relayed to me initially.

I think the problem is that the installer on this computer does not see a new revision code and always shows the maintenance dialog.

We do have the installer set to generate a revision code on each build.

Please advise how I can fix this problem.

Hi,

Please try to manually generate the revision code upon the next build - does that fix the issue?
