Server 2008 64 Bit Problem

Post by ajordan »

I have a setup that I install on Server 2003 that doesn't seem to work on Server 2008. Questions:
1. I have tested the 2003 installation and all works the way I want; however, my client has a 2008 and things don't seem to work the same, are there nuances in 2008 that I need to be aware of? I have checked the 64 bit check box for the 2008 and unchecked it for the 2003. That is the only difference between the two.
2. I have shared the $TARGET$ folder, but when I look at the sharing on the server, I see it is shared the way I want for only Administrators, I want it shared for Authenticated users. How do I change that?

Hi,

What problems exactly are you facing on the 2008 machine? Everything should work the same..
for 2), you just check authenticated users in the Set Access Control command.

I set the sharing in Server Configuration|Shared Folders and then went to Advanced Options|Access Control and I clicked Share (folder share) in Object Type; however, when I click Browse and select $TARGETDIR$ the OK button is disabled, I then selected one of the programs in the folder to get the OK button to enable and deleted the name of the program in the Object Path edit box to leave only $TARGETDIR$. I then selected Set Chosen Users with Access Rights and Authenticated Users in User Accounts/Groups and selected Read and Write in Access Rights, then clicked OK.

I then compiled and tried this on my server and the Authenticated Users for that folder did not have write control.

What am I or you doing wrong?

It sounds like it should work. What does the access control dialog says about the key in regedit?
