InstallAware does not display Greek characters

Post by sontle »

We are using InstallAware 7R2 to install our system on various OSs such as Danish, German, Greek,....
Other languages seem to work fine but when trying to install on Greek environment, InstallAware displays garbage. I have tried to format the Translations.Greek to both ANSI and Unicode but no luck.

Not sure what else I need to do to resolve this issue. Can you help ?

Son

Son,

You might want to try setting to a different CODEPAGE in your project.

I have set the compile variable CODEPAGE in project setting to 65001 (UTF8) and formatted my Translation.Greek to UTF8 but still got the same issue.

Hi,

Try restoring that file to its default:

Hi Aviv,
Not sure what you meant by restoring the default but the Greek file is currently translated and formatted as UTF8. If I changes the file format to ANSI, then all the contents of the file will be changed to invalid different characters.

So, What we currently have is Translattion.Greek is in UTF8 format and the contents appeared correct. The CODEPAGE compiler variable is set as 65001 (UTF8). I am using InstallAware 7 R2.

Any thing else that you think I can do to resolve the issue ?

We are very close to the release and this issue is holding us up and I am really appreciated if you could help on this.

Son,

This issue does not reproduce with IA 2012.
Therefore, it is hard for me to be of more help to you.
You can try downloading the trial of IA 2012 and seeing if that solves the problem.

I can not try this at this stage. Can you trace back to see if this was an issue with InstallAware 7R2 or this is procedural error.

Thank you,

Looks like the #CODEPAGE# pre-dedined compiled varia was only introduced in IA9. Thi smean that IA 7R2 will have problem. Can you confirm ?

Son,

That is correct. We unfortunately don't have access to older versions anymore. What you could do is download the trial of the newest version (2012) and trying your project there.
