Empty sub folder is not included to the installation

Post by MatDeveloper100 »

Hello,

I've this command in my script

Code: Select all

Install Files FolderA\*.* to FolderB, include subfolders
The structure of FolderA is:
FolderA
-tmp (empty)
-subFolder (has some files in it)

Where folder tmp is emty.

But after installation I see only subFolder without tmp, after adding the dummy file to the tmp everything works fine, but that's a bad solution for us, is there any way to install empty folder?

Also we can not call command "Create folder" because sub folders can be changed in the future.

Hi,

Please try switching on the Native Engine by setting the NATIVE_ENGINE variable to TRUE in the beginning of your script.
Does this make a difference?

FYI,

This is happening in my projects as well.

Empty log/ config folders included in the Install Files (include subfolders) actions are not showing up on install.

Hi,

Actually, empty folders are not created by the installation engines. This is because the install engines install the files, and build folders around them.
Instead, you can use the Create Folder MSIcode command to create the desired empty folders.

I see.

The empty folders are part of the drop that I'm bundling with the Installer.

Install Files PKGCONTENT\*.* include subfolders is checked.

One would think *.* would include everything here (even if the folder is empty) no?

What about adding another check box in include files to handle this?

Thanks,

Chris
