Hello,
we are planning to allow our customers to deploy their setups through an Active Directory. The default way of IA to apply parameters with a silent install is to use command line parameters. Unfortunately, these do not exist in AD. The AD-way is to have MST files, which contain the settings ("transformations") that need to be done.
So we are now looking for a way to let the admins pass some kind of parameters to the setup while deploying it via AD. Which is the recommended way for IA?
kind regards,
Philip
Deploying IA Setup via Active Directory
Re: Deploying IA Setup via Active Directory
Hi,
You can directly specify parameters to InstallAware setups when you run them - you can later read these parameters in code via the CMDLINE MSIcode parameter.

Hello,
this is not possible during AD deployment. There is no way to specify command line parameters.

Re: Deploying IA Setup via Active Directory
Hey,
How about building transforms that override the command line property passed to the InstallAware setups contained inside the MSI files generated by InstallAware's Group Policy Wizard?
Other ways of customization are also possible using commands line Get INI File Settings and the $GPOPATH$ pre-defined variable - the setup would read an INI file located next to the Group Policy MSI file. This would be the
suggested way of doing this in InstallAware.
