Edit XML File not working when xml has comments

Post by lpperras »

I am using the Edit XML File feature to delete a node in my XML file, and it does not work when there are comments node inside the node I want to delete. It would be nice to see this working in a future release.

Thanks,
Louis

Dear User,

thanks for your report, as soon as I can I will test it and evetually it will be notified to developer team.

Meanwhile if you could send me a sample XML file to test on, it will be really appreciated.

You can replicate my scenario with a simple xml like that:

<configuration>
<appSettings>
<!-- Start comment -->
<add key="Test" value="val" />
<!-- /End comment -->
</appSettings>
</configuration>

I also noticed that if I try to remove all the <add /> elements with the path configuration\appSettings\add it does not work, even without comments in this section. Is it possible that the delete only work when there is an end tag?

Thanks,
Louis

Dear Louis,

I have personally tested your simple XML ... and I found that works correctly.

Tested on IA 2012.

In which way are You trying to do it?
