I'm looking for InstallAware to automatically grab our latest SQL script (like we do with all other files). Right now it is a manual process ... everytime we have a new SQL script I have to go into InstallAware and click 'Load Script' and then browse to the SQL script.
Is there a way for it to always grab the script each time a setup is built? It is always the same path (ex: \\servername\sharename\current_script.sql)
Here is the text:
Microsoft SQL Server Script : Connect to database mydbname on instance localhost\ as user sa (get result into variable SCRIPTRESULTS)
Here is the code:
~InstallAware Clipboard Data~
~MS SQL Server~
~{FEE38CFA-4AF4-4CDD-8E2B-1EA1D0E57DF9}~
~localhost,,mydbname,sa,mydbpassword,SCRIPTRESULTS,"mydbscript",-1,0~
~mMSSQLIDE.dll\mMSSQLExec.dll~
Thanks for any help!

Re: Grab latest SQL script???
You cannot currently do this. (As far as I know)
But it does make a nice suggestion - i.e. InstallAware could have a PROJECT settings for a PREBUILD command that can be executed and a POSTBUILD command that can be executed. It could be a batch file or whatever.
There, I nominated a suggestion.

Re: Grab latest SQL script???
I recently upgraded from v6.6 to v2012 thinking that this ability was added ... it seems that it hasn't been added.
If it has been added, can you please let me know how I can configure my setup to always grab the latest version of my MS SQL script (it should work like grabbing any other file).
If it hasn't been added, can a patch be created for v2012 that will add this feature?

Re: Grab latest SQL script???
Dear User,
As reported in InstallAware Documentation (Just press F1 in IA Ide):
If you wish to load your SQL Script from a file at runtime, use the special #FILESCRIPT# value to indicate this. This option is especially useful for very long scripts that contain tens of thousands of lines. If your script has the value #FILESCRIPT# at the first position in the first line of the SQL Script field, the script will be read from the file following the value. For instance, if you enter the value #FILESCRIPT#$SUPPORTDIR$\sqlscript.sql into the SQL Script field, the plug-in will load the file sqlscript.sql from the installer's support files (creatives) folder at run-time, and execute the script contained within that file
Hope this helps you.
Regards
