Hi
I need to create separate installations of the same software for different clients, each of whom wants his own Publisher name, Contact name, Help link, etc displayed in the ARP applet. Previously I just created separate projects, but it seems such a waste not to do it in MSI code. I tried something like the following:
if Variable CLIENT Equals BB
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\HelpTelephone, +27 (0)11-xxx-yyyy
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\Publisher, BB South Africa
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\Contact, [email protected]
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\HelpLink, http://www.bb.co.za
end
if Variable CLIENT Equals BE
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\HelpTelephone, +49-yyy-zzzzz
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\Publisher, BE Europa
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\Contact, [email protected]
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\HelpLink, http://www.be.de
end
but it only works for HelpTelephone, which is not one of the fields in the IA ARP dialog. I would always get whatever are in the ARP dialog for the other three, be it blanks or dummy entries. These values are displayed by the ARP applet as well as in the registry. I've tried putting the code before and after Apply Intall.
Is there any way of getting around IAs Add-Remove Programs entries?
Thanks
Piet

Dear Piet,
try to use your code after the Apply Install call and with Set Variable NATIVE_ENGINE.
example:
Apply Install (get result into variable SUCCESS)
if Variable SUCCESS Equals COMPLETE
if Variable CLIENT Equals BB
Set Variable NATIVE_ENGINE to TRUE
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\HelpTelephone, +27 (0)11-xxx-yyyy
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\Publisher, BB South Africa
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\Contact, [email protected]
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\HelpLink, http://www.bb.co.za
Set Variable NATIVE_ENGINE to FALSE
end
if Variable CLIENT Equals BE
Set Variable NATIVE_ENGINE to TRUE
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\HelpTelephone, +49-yyy-zzzzz
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\Publisher, BE Europa
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\Contact, [email protected]
Write Registry Key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\$TITLE$\HelpLink, http://www.be.de
Set Variable NATIVE_ENGINE to FALSE
end
end
Let me know

Re: Override ARP dialog entries in IA11
Hi Francesco
It works like a charm! (I set NATIVE_ENGINE outside the full set of "if/end"s I wanted to do, i.e. one true and one false only).
I don't suppose there's any way of specifying the Project Options/Output Filename from the script as well, eh?
Many thanks
Piet

I'm happy that works!
Unfortunately you can not specify the Project Options/Output Filename via script.
