AppPool creation fails in with ASP.NET 4

Post by lpperras »

When I try to use the Create Virtual Folder function and set the app pool to be .NET 4, and set the name of the app pool to be $TITLE$, if the pool does not exist, it creates 2 app pool, one called ASP.NET v4.0$TITLE$ and another one called $TITLE$. It sets the ASP.NET v4.0$TITLE$ as my application pool. I got away by using the Default setting instead of specifying the app pool in this window and called appcmd.exe with Run Program, but it would be nice to see this fixed.

Thanks,
Louis

Dear Luis,

are you able, when you have some time, to provide me just a simple project that I can forward to dev team?

I know that you give me enough info to replicate, but if you could do it .... it will help me a lot.

Thanks in advance

Has any one heard of any resolution on this? We have a similiar situation: installing a new .Net 4 site and creating an application pool "My Service" and InstallAware will create two pools: "My Service" using .Net 2 and a "ASP.Net v4.0 My Service" using .Net 4. The site will point to the "My Service" pool.

Same here.
My setup needs to configure additional settings for the app pool created by IA, on both Win 2003 and Win 2008. On Win 2003 32 bit the pool is correctly created as "AppPool".
On Win 2008 64 bit, I get "AppPool" (where I enable 32 bit support using appcmd) along with "ASP.NET v4.0 AppPool" (created by IA and associated with my website).
Result: a "An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format" error because my app requires 32 bit support but is running in an application pool that has not this feature enabled.
Is there a proper fix? Aside from trying to configure "ASP.NET v4.0 AppPool" directly...

Dear Users,

Can you release a very basic sample project that replicate the issue?

I could do it by myself ... but your cooperation can accelerate my job.

Run it on a Win 2k8 64 bit. You will get two application pools.
Please, let us know. I tried by creating the app pool with appcmd but it does solve anything.

Dear Users,

I have logged the issue in our fix list.

Actually I can give any information about how and when it will be available.

Maybe this can help others in the meantime.
I ended up creating an ASP.NET 2 application via IA and then changing the framework version using appcmd.

Hi Francesco,

I am experiencing the same issue as well.
Do you have any update on if that's been fixed or when it is going to be fixed or if it is going to be fixed at all?

Cheers,
Alex
