Delete virtual folder

Post by lbertoldi »

I have an issue when uninstalling an ASP.NET web application.
The files are correctly removed, but the virtual directories aren't.
This is the code I use, and it's fairly simple.

Code: Select all

if Variable REMOVE Equals TRUE
Comment: Uninstall service pack if present
  Install/Remove MSI Package {05CF5C08-11FE-4919-9217-994EECDA6528}[REMOVE=ALL]
Apply Uninstall (get result into variable SUCCESS)
  Comment: Uninstall product
Delete Virtual Folder "$VDIR$/modules/crmweb" in IIS Site #$SITEINDEX$
Delete Virtual Folder "$VDIR$/services/blix" in IIS Site #$SITEINDEX$
  Set Variable PROGRESS to 100
  else
...
I checked the two variables at uninstall time (a simple messagebox) and they contain the correct values.
Tested on a Win 2008 64 bit in 32 bit mode.
Any thoughts?

Dear user,

I know that probably I'm asking you too much, can you send me a sample project that replicate the issue that I can work on?

It will speed up my investigations .... thanks you in advance for your cooperation.

I am not able to replicate it on a test project.
Some additional info
- $VDIR$ root virtual folder points to a folder in program files, and it exists when first installing the application
- the vdir I try to remove has been correctly created by IA, and it is not a subfolder of the $VDIR$ physical path
- the create and delete vdir commands are not logged (why???)
- the code should be actually called, as messageboxes right before are correctly shown
Any idea? Or do you have any suggestion to debug the issue?
Thanks

Dear User,

have you tried to see what happens if you call the DELETE command before Apply Uninstall?

Honestly I do not know why the Delete Virtual folder it is not logged ( ... if you mean not reported in log file) ... I'll will check it.

I will try to reproduce it, but it takes some times and with the risk, that I'm not able to reproduce exactly the same situation you have.

If you have any further information, please reply to me.

They were before the Apply command, then I tried moving them after. No change.
I started a new project from scratch and put everything back in (a LOT of work, since I am not able to open two instances of IA at the same time) and now it works.
So I believe it's a matter of some inner "Delete folder" logic that got messed up by who knows what.
It could be useful if the delete/create virtual folder commands logged information to the log file, but this did not happen.
