Installation takes a longer time

Hi,
We were using installshield before and recently moved on to Install Aware.
The install shield used to take around 1 min and 30 secs to install, while install Aware takes 6 min and 20secs. What could be the issue??
I have tried various options of compression available.

only with these informations it is very diffucult to find out. Anyway are two different package that can have of course different approach.

So supposing that:
- are you using exactly same files and runtimes?
- same compression?
- How big are the two different setup exe in size?

--- Yes its is the same project files.

--> I am using dump to cd or DVD in both,,, install aware and install shield

---> I just chkd, there is a huge diff, Install shield has only 250Mb in Cd version where as Install Aware is 1.38Gb.


Install shield converts in data.cab file. The cd folder has two .cab files.
Where as the Install Aware has a folder by name Release-> uncompressed and several many folders in them..
I think the compression method in Instal Aware is diff and provides several no of files

Of course the two installations produced if compared, can't be identical.

But in your case the difference it is too evident .. I suspect that the runtimes or some other files used, it is different by version, size or not present in your first install.

By the way I can't give you more infos without knowing more deeply the project.

Anyways, I would like to know, is there any good compression technique in Install aware, which produces an exe, that can be installed faster.

I can only suggest you to try with the different options in order to balance file size and execution time.

By the way personally with my projects, I use the BEST Rate compression. I prefer file size instead of execution time ... but it is only an opinion!

Well I understand that best compression is good. But we are a group of 20 here, and we need new software every 3 days, as the development keep going. User install and uninstall everyday. For them It will be a pain in going that process due to time consumption. That is why I prefer CD/DVD version. But that too takes longer time in Istall Aware !!!!

I am still not able to figure out, how can I sort this issue of time during installation. Please let me know what information you can so that It would help me to fix this. Can we have webex session ?

To provide more information on the software.
We have a main folder, that has many data files, May be aroung 3,000 files. I think It is taking time for them to copy during installation.
How can I pack them up, so that Installation is smoother.
