I have several files (.dlls and .ocxs) that I distribute with our product. However, I also use them in apps that I run on my machine.
I have found that when building the InstallAware setup program, if these files are in use by my local apps, then the build doesn't happen.
I get an errors such as:
Error during build: Unable to copy file to E:\Oprep4\installaware\ProRep32\Release\Single\data\OFFLINE\66C4A704\A54FC78C\spContrl.ocx
I am currently having to close down all apps that use these controls that I ship whenever I want to create a build.
The particularly bad thing is that my "make" utility that displays my projects and launches the programs to either edit or compile them, and also to either edit or compile the builds, uses some of the controls that I ship. I eat my own dog food.
Can the IA builder be updated in the future where it opens the source files in shared non-exclusive mode when copying them to the Data folder so that this doesn't happen?
Thanks.
Rob

Re: Source files can't be in use during build
Dear Rob,
it is a good practice to use a separate folder for binaries used by your setup project.
I do the same for my personal projects, the used binaries are always in a separate folder for distribution purpose only.
IA builder just executes a copy command and I suspect that the copy will also fails, if you try to manually copy these when in use.
