Currently we are using IA 8.0
Today we've purchased the latest version of IA (upgrade).
But before we are going to install it I was wondering if there is some kind of special way to do this, or is it simply installing the new version?
Does the new installer detect if an older version is present? and do I need the "old" license key ?
I find it a bit stragne you have to install the trial version first?
Thanx.
Ton.

Re: how to Upgrade IA
Dear Ton,
each IA version requires a different personal license setup file.
Your previous license file it is only valid with your previous IntallAware version and consequently, your new license with your last purchased IA upgrade.
To upgrade InstallAware, you can run the new version over the existing installation. It will completely remove your previous version before starting the new one. If you prefer you can manually remove your current IA version from ARP and then install the new one.
Select your InstallAware licensed Edition when required (es: studio, studio admin and so on).
Once the installation it is completed execute you new license file to activate your copy.
I suggest you to download the Full InstallAware Setup file from our download page (about 1.3 gb file size).
Always backup your trial version installer, as well as your activation file, in a safe location.
InstallAware does not keep old version trial downloads or activation files; therefore once your Customer Account expires, you will not be able to re-install your product unless you have previously made backups.
Regards

Re: how to Upgrade IA
I did receive an email with a "code".
But did not received an activation file.
Reading the instructions in the mail it sais I can download some files with my account.
It sais I have to login with my mailadress and password.
But the last time we did that was about 4 years ago and don't know the password anymore ...
Can I request a new password on my mailadress?

Re: how to Upgrade IA
I've contacted them and I've recieved new login data.
One question:
Are my IA 8 projects still usable in the 2012 version?

Re: how to Upgrade IA
As I understand it, yes, they are. They'll be converted into IA 12 format when you open them. Like all things, though, make sure you keep a backup. You won't be able to open them in version 8 after version 12 has finished with them.

Re: how to Upgrade IA
Dear Ton,
As Peter (thanks) already said, your projects are fully compatible with IA 2012.
Then as always, a backup copy it is a good practice.
