Installaware hangs at startup

Hi

I have been running InstallAware 12 for several months now.
Today, for some reason, InstallAware would not start anymore. It hangs forever at the splash screen.

Can you advise how to diganose this?

Additional Information:

- I tried a repair but it did not help.
- I fully uninstalled InstallAware 12 and reinstalled it but it did not help.

Are you launching IA by double-clicking on an existing project file?

Does it hang if you launch IA using the program menu as well?

Did you try installing on another machine just to see if it's okay elsewhere?

Does it hang if you login as system administrator?

Other things I'd look at and check could be to disable any AV; uninstall and forcibly delete any remaining IA folder in Program Files; user access rights?

Dear rmarma,

I really suspect that there is something with your system causing the issue.

have you found that only IA is failling to work properly or some other program doesn't work has expected?

Have you tried to watch with TaskManager if there are some other processes consuming system resources?

Have you tried to restore your system to a previous restore point?

Hi,

Same problem here, since yesterday. I used IA for several months without any issues.

When I start Installaware 2012, the usual IA2012 splash screen is prompted; then after a while a message box ('' is not a valid integer value) ist prompted. I click OK - The InstallAware splash screen remains and a ~60x~20 Pixel Window shows up in the middle oft the desktop ( the InstallAware window - Mini-Edition ). I can resize this IA 2012 main form- but not work with it. F.e.: If I try to open a project, win 7 prompts a "miab.exe" is not responding error. (Splash screen remains visible)

I tried this:
- I moved my IA projects to new folders to make sure IA won't find any corrupted project files during the startup.
- I uses the IA wizard to generate a new IA project and saved it, tried to reload.
- I downloaded IA 2012 from embarcadero.com an reinstalled IA 2012.

Nothing helped.

It seems that IA 2012 tries to load a corrupted IA 2012 option file at startup.

Is there any way to reset IA 2012 (delete all IA 2012 option files)?

Dear Michael,

Usually the best way to fix this is to uninstall, delete the entire C:\Program Files\InstallAware\InstallAware 2012 (or similar) folder, and then reinstall. This will ensure everything is restored properly, and nothing needs to be removed from the registry.

thanks a lot for your help. Uninstall, delete the program dir, then reinstall did work.

By the way: miab.exe (file date: 17.8.2011, product version: N/A) prompted the error message always (i tested several times) after this:

If I have not missed anything, you say that actually you have succefully reinstalled the package but you still have issues with miab.exe execution.
Am I correct?

If true, honestly I really suspect by the errors you posted seems an issue with your OS.
Really the first time that I see it.

Have you tried to install IA to another machine?
