Repackage for Enterprise installation

Post by anha78 »

Hi,

I'm trying to repackage a installer that has been created with Installaware. I got 2 problems atm.
Problem 1. If I try and install as SYSTEM the installer will halt at "<Dialogs>" and not contiune. Installing it as a user works without any problems. I ran the setup exe using /s /l=C:\media\install.log
Problem 2. Trying to use msiexec does not work at all. The installation will halt and say "CustomAction ACTEZ returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)". I ran the msi using "msiexec /I "iPass Installer.msi" ADDLOCAL=ALL ALLUSERS=1 MSIRESTARTMANAGERCONTROL=Disable ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT=1 ARPNOREMOVE=1 ARPNOMODIFY=1 ARPNOREPAIR=1 ARPINSTALLLOCATION="C:\Program Files (x86)\iPass\Open Mobile" SRCDIR=C:\media\INSTAL~1\data\ SOURCELIST=C:\media\INSTAL~1\data\;C:\media\installer\mia\ MEDIAPACKAGEPATH=\media\INSTAL~1\ REBOOT=R /qb!"

Dear Anha78,
Problem 1. If I try and install as SYSTEM the installer will halt at "<Dialogs>" and not contiune. Installing it as a user works without any problems.
It is not clear to me what you really mean with "will halt at "<Dialogs>" " ... which is exactly the dialog?

Have you already seen if the following topic can help you?
http://www.installaware.com/forum/viewt ... 8&start=15
Problem 2. Trying to use msiexec does not work at all. The installation will halt and say "CustomAction ACTEZ returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)"
If you run the installer as: "msiexec /I "iPass Installer.msi", will it fail anyway?

Please excuse me for the very obvious question, Have you used Group Policy wizard tool to produce the MSI file?

Let me know.

Regards.

1. When I run the setup exe with /s /l=C:\media\install.log as SYSTEM I get this:
<InstallAware>
<SetupSplash>
<StubSize>
</StubSize>
<StubData>
</StubData>
<GlobalLists>
</GlobalLists>
<SupportDir>
</SupportDir>
<ExtractArchive>
</ExtractArchive>
<ExtractResource>
</ExtractResource>
<ResourcePath>
</ResourcePath>
<Dialogs>

And it doesnt continue beyond this until I either kill the process or the SCCM client kills the installation for timing out.

2. I can not run it with msiexec at all. msiexec /I "iPass Installer.msi" does even less then the command I used with all the properties. The welcome dialog just flashes past for a sec and then the installation ends.

Dear Anha78,

honestly it is not so easy to figure what really happens without having your file ... by the log there aren't enough infos.

Have you tried to excute the setup.exe without using SILENT parameter ( ... just to see if any other info comes up)?
