Hello Support.
A question regarding repair.
In maintenance window when I click repair, I've noticed that it set the variable REPAIR.
However I can't find this variable in the MSICode so I can't follow the steps it takes when performing a repair. Steps that I would like to modify to fit my needs.
Regards,
T.

Re: Repair modifications
Dear Tzachk,
The repair maintenence mode execute the same installation procedure once again, that's the reason way you generally do not have the variable with you script code.
If you want to excute some custom operations when repair maintenence mode is running, just conditionally check the value of REPAIR variable when you need in your script.

Re: Repair modifications
Hi Francesco,
Thanks for the answer.
So I take it that repair simply overwrites everything by doing APPLY INSTALL?

T.

Re: Repair modifications
Dear Francesco,
This is a problem for my needs, as I don't want to start the install process again but rather, do an uninstall, reboot and re-install.
This is because many files are locked by my software and only a reboot can free them for overwriting.
Any sample on how to achieve this?

T.

Re: Repair modifications
Dear Tzachk,
I suppose that you are the developer of your application and probably, you should know how to terminate all the related processes.
If the above it is not possible, you could try to store somewhere in the target OS that I Repair maintenance mode is started (as a File or Registry value).
Reboot the system using RESTART & RESUME, verify if a Repair maintenance operation is required checking the stored data and then proceed as you want.
Honestly, I do not understand why you need to completely remove your intallation to execute a repair and obviously, my suggestion doesn't work if you remove it.

Re: Repair modifications
Hi Francesco,
Removing everything was due to an issue with old installer. You are right, no need to do that anymore (old habbits are hard to break
).
Your other suggestions helpd as well. Repair mode completed succesfully.
Thanks.
