No problem - the best way to do so is to use the MessageBox command - just begin typing MessageBox at the line of MSIcode in which you wish it to be created.
Then, in the body of the MessageBox, enter the variable name surrounded by $ - for example, $VARIABLE$

Re: Reboot after .Net Framework 4
Hi,
I have the same issue here. The DOTNET40CLIENT_RESULT_X64 variable is set to SUCCESS. However, when I install the netfx_core_x64.msi directly via msiexec netfx_core_x64.msi VSEXTZUI=1 TRANSFORMS=netfx4_aip.mst I get a dialog that asks if I want to reboot now. If I say no, the process exits with errorlevel 3010 which is ERROR_SUCCESS_REBOOT_ REQUIRED.
Any ideas how to solve this?
We are using InstallAware 9 R2.
Regards,
Manuel Pöter

Re: Reboot after .Net Framework 4
Dear Manuel,
the returned value "ERROR_SUCCESS_REBOOT_ REQUIRED" is indicative of success. If ERROR_SUCCESS_REBOOT_REQUIRED is returned, the installation completed successfully but a reboot is required to complete the install operation.
So to complete succefully the runtime installation you MUST restart the system and optionally, it could be done at the end of your setup process.
Please refer to Windows Installer Error codes and have a look at the following link:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... s.85).aspx

Re: Reboot after .Net Framework 4
Hi,
I figured as much.
However, I am wondering why my InstallAware setup returns "SUCCESS" instead of "REBOOT" when I install the same msi via "Install/Remove MSI package"?
The point is, that we need to install the .NET Framework as a prerequisit to other components which fail to install, if the .NET Framework was not correctly installed (including the reboot).

I'm not quite sure If I follow ... are you using two different runtime packages? However, I am wondering why my InstallAware setup returns "SUCCESS" instead of "REBOOT" when I install the same msi via "Install/Remove MSI package"?

Re: Reboot after .Net Framework 4
Hi,
I'm installing the .NET 4 Client Framework using the runtime setup script provided by InstallAware which contains the following line:
However, the DOTNET40CLIENT_RESULT_X64 variable returns "SUCCESS" instead of "REBOOT".
But when I install the same msi file by hand the process returns ERROR_SUCCESS_REBOOT_REQUIRED.
The question now is, why InstallAware doesn't pick up this return code and sets the variable to REBOOT.
I hope I could clarify it this time.
Regards,
Manuel

Re: Reboot after .Net Framework 4
.... interesting.
One more question,
- whe you say: "But when I install the same msi file by hand the process returns ERROR_SUCCESS_REBOOT_REQUIRED."
How do you call it?
