Hi,
After creating a App Data folder for All User's (e.g. C:\ProgramData\MyCompany\MyTitle) in my script, do I need to set any kind of permissions on the folders/files for ANY user of the machine to be able to access the data files in it (read/write/create)?
Create Folder $ALLLOCALAPPDATA$\$COMPANY$\$TITLE$\UsrShare
Create Folder $ALLLOCALAPPDATA$\$COMPANY$\$TITLE$
Create Folder $ALLLOCALAPPDATA$\$COMPANY$
Also, do I need to create each folder in sequence like above, or just the end folder (UsrShare)?
Thanks,
John

Re: All User App Data folder permissions?
Dear John,
you can create that folder using only:
Once the folder is created (after Apply Install) you can use "Set Permissions" command to grant access to everyone to that folder.
Regards
you can create that folder using only:
Code: Select all
Create Folder $ALLLOCALAPPDATA$\$COMPANY$\$TITLE$\UsrShareRegards

Re: All User App Data folder permissions?
Thanks, Francesco. If I don't specifically set permissions on these folders, will Windows block my program from accessing files in them? The user doesn't really need access...just the program regardless of which user is logged in.

Re: All User App Data folder permissions?
Dear John,
if the user don't have enough privileges to access to that folder, the OS will block your app.
Anyway, by default USERS GROUP have access to "ProgramData" ... eventually you need to set permission only if your user have less privileges.
Of course, if this is the case, set the permission to your sub-folder only.
