Software uninstalls even if the folders are open

Post by kishorkk23 »

Hi,
I have created an install for my current software. When I give uninstall it uninstalls without giving warning that please close all the open folders(related to software).
Is there any flag which I need to set ??
It uninstalls even if the Software is open !!!

Dear Users,

the unistall process is handled by Windows Installer engine directly.
If you are not using the installAware NATIVE ENGINE with your project, all the install files commands or files deletion commands are processed directly by MSI.

Probably it can be added a control that checks if the a process is active before uninstalling it ... I will try to place a request for it for future IA releases.
Actually, the MSI engine executes the unistall operations in that way.

Regarding the Folder Open check during unistall, for that there isn't so much to do. It is the OS that permits that. You ca delete a file from a folder even if this folder is opened by another window explorer process.

To complete my previous post, with a script that uses a custom DLL is possible to track the active processes via WIN API.
