VS 2012 Redistributables

Post by tlmii »

Are you all going to make available to your users the redistributables for the VS 2012-era components? In Particular, the VC++ 11 redistributable and the .net framework 4.5 redistributable?

When I asked this last time:

http://www.installaware.com/forum/viewt ... f=2&t=8775

I was told wait until the next version comes out. Well, NX is out now.

I see another thread where someone asked and was told that they were in the NX version... well... yes, but that doesn't help your existing customers.

In the past, you've always released the redistributables separate from the paid licenses, so that existing users could make use of them. For example:
http://www.installaware.com/ia9net4.htm

Has this policy been suspended?

Dear User,
In the past, you've always released the redistributables separate from the paid licenses, so that existing users could make use of them. For example:
http://www.installaware.com/ia9net4.htm
The link you are refering is about the availability of NET runtimes for Intallaware ver. 9. InstallAware update policy is never changed.
Unfortunately it is not possible to make available the latest runtimes updates to past IA versions, because these often contains reference to feature that are available only with the IA release for which have been designed.

By the way, InstallAware offer the possibility to use the Runtime packages distributes by the vendor without any restriction.
Then also consider, that the runtimes available with InstallAware are only those mostly used by the large part of users.
There are hundreds of other useful runtimes that are not used by the majority of the developers, which are not included with InstallAware, but can be easly included in a setup package without problems.

In addition, with InstallAware there is the possibility to create customized runtime packages, as the IA developer team does and as many IA users do.
If you search in our Script Forum I am sure you can find some of these, probably are not the ones your are looking for, but as you can see do not exist a limitation with the use of any runtimes with any IA version.

I hope to be succeeded in giving you a definitive answer to your questions.

Regards
Francesco Toscano
