Hi,
I have a very simple installation. It just copies a number of files and uses run program to register a .NET COM dll through regasm. On most computers this installation work as intended but on some the installation fails after the first dialog. The error popup just says "Error" and the installation skips to the installation complete dialog. I have found no major difference between the systems where the installation works and the ones where it fails (all use Windows 7, all have .NET 4.5, all have run Windows Update recently etc). I realize that this is a horrible description of my problem but since the error message doesn't provide any information whatsoever and I can't really find any differences between the systems I don't know what else to do.
We are running InstallAware Studio 10.02.12 by the way and the installation runs just fine on the system that created it, as well as on many others.
Please, does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

Re: Unspecified error
Dear User,
Probably the reason why you are not able to receive an appropriate error message, could be caused by a not correct string localization of that error string ( ... this in case your setup project it is localized for different languages).
Are you installing any Runtime with your project? have you tried if removing the runtimes, for test purpose, helps you to find out what happens?
Are you using InstallAware NX?
Have you tried if a Logged Execution of your package reports anything? (To execute a logged setup use; <setup.exe> /l=<path to logfile>).
Regards

Re: Unspecified error
Hi,
Sorry for taking such a long time to answer. I took a little Christmas vacation.
I ran a Logged Execution as per your instructions on one of the machines where the setup failed and it helped me to find this post: http://forums.installaware.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2937 which solved my problem.
Thank you for your support.
