Hello Support,
I have stumbled upon an issue inwhich I try to set permissions for x64 regsitry and instead of the x64 the permissions are set for the x32.
We are using InstallAware 2012.
I saw that in InstallAware 15 bug list it was reported that it was fixed.
Is there a fix for 2012 as well?
Regards,
T.

Dear Tzachk,
unfortunately, that fix is available for IA 15 only.

Re: Set Access Control fails to set permissions for x64 regi
Hi Francesco,
Any workaround?
I don't want to get into the same angry discussion I had in the past with your sales regarding bug fix versions, but again I have an issue that can only be resolved by a major upgrade which I need to buy even though I bought the software last July. InstallAware is not releasing bug fix version at all? bug fix is only included in major releases?
I'm tired of having to code small utilities to overcome bugs in the InstallAware installer. These are bugs, not feature requests.
Regards,
Tzach.

Dear Tzach,
As you, I don't want to start an unproductive discussion about the matter, even because this forum is not the right place.
When it is possible, we do our best to make fixes available and you should know this, as happened with a specific case you had sometime ago.
Unfortunately in this case, the fix is available with IA 15 only ( ... for many technical reasons that I am not going to explain here).
I'm sorry.
Regards

Re: Set Access Control fails to set permissions for x64 regi
Dear Francesco,
It shouldn't be "when possible". There are market standards when it comes to provide support for your product.
As you know as well, I provided to this forum small utilities to overcome bugs in the installer, but this is not the right way to go. Specially with a software that was just bought few months ago.
The above is my opinion as a software vendor.
Anyhow, I'm providing another utility to help overcome the registry issue for users that do not have IA 15.
Run the RegPermissions.exe to get usage instructions.
On 32 bit machines it shall set 32 bit hive and on 64 bit machines 64 bit hive.
To set 32 bit hive on 64 bit machines use the Wow6432Node. Maybe later on I'll have time to have the program do it by itself.
Regards,
Tzach.
