How to display Readme at Patching

Post by Zero-G. »

Hey

I use the readme to Show the user, what changes are made. -> When the Installation Progress goes through a full Installation, the readme is shown as wanted, and so the end user can read all the changes, which have been done.
Is there a possibility to Show the readme to the enduser, when only a patch is applied?

THX for tips - have a nice weekend

Dear user,

if you take a look at your main script code, with a patch build the default setup interview is not included with the build due the conditional compiler statment:

[DEFINE REGION: Setup User Interview]
if Variable MAINTENANCE Equals TRUE
GoTo Label: Maintenance
else
[compiler if Variable BUILDMODE not Equals PATCH]
Comment: First Time Install
Set Variable TARGETDIR to $PROGRAMFILES$\$TITLE$
Set Variable STARTMENU to $TITLE$
[compiler end]
end

label: Welcome Dialog
Display Dialog: welcome, wait for dialog to return (modal)
if Variable WIZARD Equals CANCEL
GoTo Label: Main Install
end
[compiler if Variable BUILDMODE not Equals PATCH]

...!!!CODE COMPILATION SKIPPED DUE PATCH BUILD!!!
[compiler end]

Then, To make your ReadMe dialog available with your patch build, you should add the following code just after the above last [compiler end] statment in your Main Script:

Code: Select all

[compiler if Variable BUILDMODE Equals PATCH]
label: ReadMe Information
Display Dialog: readme, wait for dialog to return (modal)
if Variable WIZARD Equals BACK
  GoTo Label: Welcome Dialog
else
  if Variable WIZARD Equals CANCEL
    GoTo Label: Main Install
  end
end
[compiler end]
label: Start Installation
Display Dialog: startinstallation, wait for dialog to return (modal)
if Variable WIZARD Equals BACK
[compiler if Variable BUILDMODE not Equals PATCH]
  GoTo Label: Start Menu
  [compiler else]
  GoTo Label: ReadMe Information
  [compiler end]
else
  GoTo Label: Main Install
end
Please note, the above code contains also the Start Installation label that it is already present with your main script code.
This must be modified as above in order to correctly handle NEXT & BACK buttons.

Hope this helps you.
