Tips for uninstall dialog

Post by tofutim »

Hi, my dialogs say "installing" even when it is uninstalling. Are there any suggestions on how best to toggle between "uninstalling" and 'installing"? Is there a best practices page somewhere?

Dear Tofutim,

There are several ways to accomplish it.

You can display a custom finish dialog conditionally when your Un-Install process has been completed.
If you like this approach you can test "IF TRUE" the value of the pre-defined REMOVE variable to conditionally display the dialog instead of the other one.

Alternatively, you can add an extra Label control containing the Un-installation text string that you want to display, to your current Finish Dialog
Obviously, the control has to be enabled if an Un-Install process has been completed only and of course, you can do it conditionally with InstallAware.

A good & ready to use sample that uses the above approach, it is available with the Finish Dialog part of the "Orangehue" dialog Theme.
The finish dialog uses several label controls to conditionally display the required text.

Hope this helps you.
