InstallAware upgrading an InstallShield installation

We have a software package which is shipped in an installshield installer. For our next version I was hoping to move to InstallAware. Is it possible to have the new installaware installer seamlessly upgrade the old installshield installation?

I would've thought it would be as simple as copying the upgrade code guid from the installshield installer and inserting it as the product code in the installaware installer confiugration, but when I did this and ran my installation it did not upgrade the previous verison.
