Re: Installaware - Patch issue
Dear Ravz,
- did you find those base project files deleted after patch installation when you run the setup builds included with the sample I posted?
or
- does it happen when you rebuild my sample?

Re: Installaware - Patch issue
Dear Francesco,
My web application has there modules like (module1, module2, module3)
I have created the "Features" for the modules under the Setup Architecture and configure those modules in IIS using “IIS sites” in Server Configuration.
Created modules were available in the web media block and configured the download URL for those modules.
I have selected the Build type as “Compressed Web Based EXE” and Checked the “Always Cache Setup Source” option in Build settings
Once deployed the application i have the following files in the output path (IA project path/Release/web/)
- Application.exe
- Module1.7zip
- Module2.7zip
- Module3.7zip
While i executed the Application.exe in the Target machine, the required modules (Module1, Module2, Module3) were downloaded and installed successfully.
For create the patch, i have opened and save as the IA base project in different folder.
Open the IA patch project and save as the script file in the patch folder.
Added the base project "Application.exe" as the patch reference in the IA patch project and click the “Build Patch” button, patch file was created in the (IA project path/Patch/) path.
Under this folder i have only “Application.exe” file.
While install the Application.exe (patch) file in the Target machine, i get the following issue “ the file '<filename>' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'PCW_CAB_C44B83B4' “
Whether the patch generate only the Application.exe or create the all modules along with the Application.exe?

Re: Installaware - Patch issue
Dear Ravz,
the patch creates an output file built using binary differential scans and contain only the delta of the changes between the older setups and the newest setup.
In other words;
- if the base project installs file A and the Patch project installs an additional file B, the emitted patch exe contains only file B.
- if the base project installs file A and the Patch project installs an updated version of file A, the emitted patch exe only contains the delta of the changes between the two versions of file A (binary differences).

Re: Installaware - Patch issue
Dear Francesco,
We are trying to give you more clarity on the previously discussing issue with patch creation.
We tried creating a patch for our silverlight application. However we created the patch in the same way you mentioned earlier.
While trying to install the patch we are facing an error in the cabinet file.
i.e the file 'HelpBo7e17cHelpBookmark' cannot be found in 'PCW_CAB_5ED10594' cabinet file.
But i tried to extract the setup file using 7-zip file manager and explored for the above file, all those files are present in the setup package. please find the screen print of those details.
Please provide us a solution or the reason for the patch fail.

Re: Installaware - Patch issue
Dear Ravz,
by what you say everything seem correct.
However, I am sure you missed something or exist an error somewhere, but by the information you shared, I'm not able to find out the cause.
I recall that when you posted your first patch project, you told me to have used the same UPGRADECODE ... where in reality you didn't.
Anyway, if you want I can have a look at your projects.

Re: Installaware - Patch issue
Dear Francesco,
For confidentiality we cannot share the (Silverlight) application, but I have created the same scenario of my application in the attached sample (Silverlight) application.
In the sample application I have one WCF service project (Core) and Two Silverlight projects (Module1, Module2).
Attached sample contains the following:
1. app_files\Version 1.0 – Published files of actual source
2. app_files\Version 1.1 – Published files of patch source
3. Build – Installware project for building setup
4. Patch – Installaware project for building patch
Scenario:
Try to upgrade the installed base application using the patch to include the new files (Support files) I am getting the following error,
"the file '<filename>' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'PCW_CAB_C44B83B4' “
