Can update pass a userid/password to the web server

Post by JohnO »

I have been told that any updates for our app, will be on a server that requires authentication in order to access it.
This implies that if I define a scheduled update, it won't be able to talk to the server without providing a userid and pswd.

Is there a mechanism for this, or something that we can create (maybe in the MSIcode)?

Dear John,

are you referring to the possibility to pass credentials via URL?

If true, (by default) this is not allowed by the OS anymore.

Please have a look at the following link where the same argument has been already discussed.
Unfortunately, it is disabled by defaul ... ty reason.

Yes, that would be the most likely way - avoiding the browser's 'challenge' dialog. We already do this in Java code for our License Manager - creating the http stream plus credentials. I will look at the discussion at the link you gave. Thanks.
