Install Service - Service File location

Postby glenharvy » Mon Nov 24, 2014 6:15 am

I have IA install the 32bit or 64bit version of a program that runs as a Windows Service. As such, the file itself does not exist outside of the appropriate File Bag that contains it as well as other related files. How do I specify the 'Service File' entry in this case?

Do I need to have a copy of the file (both 32bit and 64bit versions are like named) located somewhere outside of the File Bag for reference purposes only? If so, do I place the Install Service command before the Install File Bag command and then start the service after the Install File Bag command?

Does Install Service start the service as well or must I use the Service Control to do that?

Thanks.

Dear Glen,

why don't you use the "Install Service" service command?
The command allows to specify how the service should start when the system is being started using the drop-down menu.
If you need to start the service immediately after its installation, you can use the Service Control command.

Hope this helps you

Obviously I was not clear enough...
I am using the Install Service command and I need to enter the location of the file to install as. Hence the Subject heading.
I have tested this now with setting the file location to that of one of the files contained in the FileBag.
Seems to have resolved my uncertainty as to how to go about this.
