InstallAware X2 - miabuild.exe

Postby philipljackson » Sun Mar 15, 2015 10:23 am

Hi

I use Final Builder to compile the different versions of my application. FB appears to use miabuild.exe as the program to execute as part of this process. Using InstallAware 18 this ran without any issue but with X2 I cannot locate this file miabuild.exe.

I can run FB if I use miaa.exe or miae.exe but then FB stops and I have to manually run either of these. Whilst this works, this is not a good solution as I run my builds overnight and do not fancy staying up half the night to do this.

Can you please advise where I can obtain the miabuild.exe or other alternative ways of overcoming this?

Many Thanks

Philip,

Apologies if I have misunderstood you but I can find miabuild.exe on my machine in C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallAware X2. I'm running Win7 64-bit.

For information it appears miabuild.exe is not installed with the first installation option (minimum build). I had to select install everything to get the file.

In fact, this is also reported with the IA documentation

"Building from the Command Line" ....
The command line build tool is not included in a minimum installation of InstallAware.

Hi

Perhaps you can share with me the items needed from the Custom Build to give me the minimum installation together with the command line build tool miabuild.exe?

Many Thanks

Dear PLJ,

To have Command line build installed correctly, you should install at least, the following IA features;
- "Command line build" feature
- "Plugins" feature
- "authenticode " feature
- ... and any application runtimes that you may require

Hope this helps you.

Hi

Thanks for advising what 'additional items' are required, but what do I select from the Custom Build to give me the 'minimum installation'?

With 'Custom Build', currently everything is being installed, I just need the Minimum Installation + the items you identified above.

Dear PLJ,

I am not quite sure to follow the steps you used.

You only have to specify the previous IA features using the product trial installer ("let me choose which feature to install" option).
