InstallAware.com Connection at Setup startup

Postby mikKummerfeld » Fri Oct 02, 2015 4:18 pm

Hello Guys,

one of our customer told me, that ESET shows a accept/decline message, that the setup wants to connect to installaware.com right after the startup.
How can I disable that in the setups ?????? I am using cryptography plugin, maybe it comes from there.
This is not acceptable

What is that for? NSA? :) :) :)

Heiko

Dear Heiko,

that plug-in or any other plug-in as well cannot be responsable of that.

BTW, I don't know what you mean for ESET ... anyway if you are able to replicate the issue, you may post a screen-shot of such dialog.

Our customer send me this screenshot. That means in English, that the Setup wants to establish a Connection to InstallAware.com after Startup.
How can we disable that?

Dear Heiko,

a generated package tries to establish such connection, only when a trial version of the product has been used to create the setup.

That said and because I am sure you used an activated copy of IA, I have the feeling that "maybe" such AV tries to alter the running exe and causes some errors with the internal license data.

Dear Heiko,

as I said previously;

I am sure that you used an activate copy of IA.
I have the feeling that such problem is caused by that particular AV instead.

Unfortunately some AV are very intrusive and also able to alter or to damage a running process and if this is your case, there isn't so much that we can do.

BTW, are you able to replicate the issue with any machine?

Anyway if you have the chance to send me that package, I'll try to run a test of your installer.

But from where get the AV the Information of "installaware.com". It can not even imagine that URL/Domain so it must be programmed by IA !
I will try to reproduce on other machines with different AVs

Dear Heiko,

I try to explain once again;
this "probably" happens because the setup process gets corrupted by the AV engine and due of this, the setup doesn't work anymore as it should.

Anyway, you should first test the package on a CLEAN MACHINE(where just the OS is installed) and successively on other machines with different AVs.

Every setup wants to connect to installaware.com on every machine. Its possible to see with sniffer tools.

Dear Heiko,

how did you test the package?

- did you use a CLEAN MACHINE (where just the OS is installed)?

If the problem is replicable on a CLEAN MACHINE as well, are you sure did you use a correct license file to activate your IA product?
