Using IA 18 under a Win7 VM successfully for several years. Today I started the app and get the noted error while just the splash screen is displaying. Upon clicking OK, the app main window shows on top of the splash screen in a very small size with just the minimize/maximize/close portion of the title bar displayed; I click the maximize button which maximizes the window, but nothing actually works. This occurs regardless of whether or not a last-used project is loading at startup. Seems to be a corrupted app config rather than a corrupted project.
I've got to get a new build installed on a customer system *today*, so if anyone has recommendations on how to fix this ASAP, or which config file to delete and rebuild, please let me know! Thanks!

Re: "" is not a valid integer value at startup
By design, at startup the IDE loads the last used project. Due the error, I suppose this may be caused by a corrupted project.
You may do a try with removing (or even better, just rename it) the "mruf.txt" file under the IA installation folder (ex. C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallAware X12).

Re: "" is not a valid integer value at startup
Francesco - There are no .TXT files in the Program Files (x86)\InstallAware\InstallAware 18 folder, just the .CHW and .SWIDTAG files and a file named with a GUID.
When miae.exe loaded the first time today and got the error, I shut it down and restarted; on the restart, no project was loaded, but it still threw the error. I restored that project from backup and tried again, and still the error. I tried loading two other previously-good installation projects, and all demonstrated the problem. I guess it's possible that 3 different projects in 3 different folder trees all got corrupted, but it seems unlikely.

Strange, such file should be there anyway.
This let me suspect that your AI 18 installation got corrupted for some unknown reason.
For test purpose, have you tried with creating a new project from scratch instead of loading an existing one?
Do you still get the error?

Re: "" is not a valid integer value at startup
Francesco - I had not tried that but just did so, using the wizard to create and save a new, empty project. I then shut down IA, and got the "'''' is not a valid integer value" error on shutdown. When I restarted it, I got the same error during startup, and bringing up the main window showed no project loaded. I then loaded the test project I just created with no reported error, but in the Design tab, clicking on any of the items in the treeview doesn't function properly - clicking on any of the level 0 treeview items (e.g. Setup Architecture) causes the links page associated with that group to display, but clicking on a level 1 item (e.g. Files) does not display the normal files-selection page, it just continues to display the related level 0 page.
I'm suspecting a corrupted app. This is running in a Win7 VM, and I don't have a whole lot of confidence that the VM's image is pristine. My problem is that I'm working remotely and don't have access to the original installation media to re-install.

Re: "" is not a valid integer value at startup
Francesco - At some point in the past we upgraded to IA X3, which I believe is still supported. I don't have the media for it, but I was able to dredge up the purchase invoice. Can I get a download of X3 based on that invoice? That way I can do a full fresh install, update the projects and move on.

Re: "" is not a valid integer value at startup
Francesco - I've located the two installers for X3 (main installer and license installer) but don't have the password needed to open the main installer. Do you have that? I can provide the invoice for the X3 purchase if you need that.
Thanks!
Thanks!
