Copy/Paste - possible problem in IA Ide

Postby andrejzr » Thu Aug 03, 2006 3:58 am

Hello,

I suspect, that there might be a problem with copy/paste functionlity of InstallFIles command.

I was building my script, and using Copy/Paste to prepare multiple InstallFiles commands. Then I edited the pasted commands, and changed the file that needs to be installed.

However, when I build the distribution, in the progress window I see, that the original file, that was in the command that was copied, get copied multiple times. Also when the installation is performed (the file was shared for example), the shared count of that file was increased by 3, not by 1.

Is this a known issue? Workarround is to delete commands and make a new one, but the problem is that I can not tell, which commands are correct and which are not. Any hints?

Thanks
Andrej.

I checked the MIA file with text editor. The GUID, that is related to the command, is the same in original and copied command. it is not updated when changing the file name. Guess this is a bug.

Any ideas, how I can verify all the mia files, to find duplicated entries?

Hi - ne info, this is not Copy/Paste problem; I could say it is mine, but would prefer that IA could be able to verify this. Here is what I did:
I had an include script, and I was making a new very simlar one.
I copied the script to another name, and then edited this renamed one (editing the InstallFiles commands). The GUID were the same in both include scripts then.

I hope this helps, would be a good feature if there is a way to verify this in IA.

Hi Andrej,

Yes this is an issue that is known to occur with the conditions you have described. If you want to "clone" your include files, just create a new include, and then copy-paste everything into there.
