Hi,
I'm currently using Install Shield X Express for my setup. My application uses the .NET framework V1.1 SP1
I'm looking for a new installer solution that can do the following:
1) Detect if the .NET Framework is already present on the user's PC
In this case, it should detect if V1.1 SP1 or later (2.0 or 3.0) is already present
2) If it is not already present, download the .NET framework 1.1 SP1 from the web and install it
3) If the user has .NET framework 2.0 or 3.0 (for example Vista) but not 1.1, it should not force them to install .NET 1.1 before proceeding.
Will InstallAware cover what I need?
Do you offer the competitive upgrade for InstallShield X express users?
Best regards,
Rodger

Hi Rodger,
Yes, InstallAware can do all you describe, and you do qualify for the competitive upgrade option - but you will need Studio to do all you want.

Thank you for your response.
Out of the items I described, which ones can and cannot be done with the developer edition?
What would be missing if I wanted to use the developer edition? Is there any workaround I could use?
What feature(s) in the studio edition are required to accomplish the missing tasks?
Thanks,
Rodger

You can take care of the scripting part with Developer.
For the custom pre-reqs user interface, apart from the basic MessageBox of course, you will need Studio. If you are OK with MessageBox'es Developer will also suit you fine.
