Windoes Explorer crash at setup start

Postby pfennig » Thu Dec 21, 2006 7:00 am

A customer with up-to-date XP systems reports a Windows Explorer crash as soon as he starts our setup. He claims to have tried it on two computers with the same result.

What could be the reason? Or what do you suggest that we should ask him to try?

best regards

No particular reason that this might have happen except from corrupt memory on (both?) pc's or other hardware issues.. In no reason the setup itself might be the cause..

Thanks. But the customer also claims he could install other software without problems.

Well, InstallAware has nothing to do whatsoever with Explorer or any of its COM interfaces...so I don't see how this can have anything to do with the InstallAware setup. Maybe some other software on the system is conflicting, like AV or security or who knows what...its really not possible to provide any useful tips without having any information.

We had allready suggested to him to disable his AV software and any restrictions, without success.
Anyway, we'll ask him to send the error report to Microsoft. Maybe they can help.
