Corrupted script?

Post by dks1013 »

After only one day, it seems like my project is corrupted. I fixed some progress dialog box error by switching to a different theme. But my index.htm file was not picking up the graphics referenced in the html code. So I was trying to change the code in the html file and test by moving the graphics to different folders. Then the errors started.

1. List index out of bounds (78) Also (114)
2. Now, when I open product: Error: Attempt to render null-comment line!

If I create a new project, things seem fine, but then I have lost all my work from yesterday.

I really do like this product compared to Wise. It's easier to use and has better themes. However, I have 7 different installs for our product and sometimes compile them for testing mutltiple times a day.

Can anybody tell me how old Installaware is and how stable? Anybody using it to install commercial products?

Thanks

I am sorry to hear that the script got corrupted. Are you running InstallAware 2005, the latest version?

If you moved files around in your project folder, it is possible you may have inadvertently deleted/damaged required files. The .MIA file stores your script, for instance. The blue.avi file that comes with the Attractive theme, if deleted, would break the progress dialog, as another example (since you reported that you were getting that error, I suspect it may be relevant to our current discussion).

We definitely have companies, large and small, with very wide distribution using InstallAware in deploying their setups  Borland recently deployed their Delphi 2005 Examples installer with InstallAware; MystikMedia, who happen to be one of our first customers, have been using InstallAware since its very first version and their application has very wide distribution, as the winner of the Shareware Industry Awards for three years in a row.

I'm getting an "List index out of bounds (1)" while trying to open my project, so I suppose my project got corrupted. I think this is a serious fragility in IA, since this was not the first time this happens. Is there any way to fix this problem or will I be forced to start from scratch? This is so frustrating... :(
