\"Runtime error in setup script\" on running patch

Postby Will » Mon Aug 01, 2005 11:35 am

I tried to build a patch. Everything looked alright when it built it, but upon running the "Apply Patch" command, the patch install fails.

"Runtime error in setup script:

Line 473: Access violation at address 0046080F in module 'AcuFactorySetup.exe'. Read of address 00000188 "

I get a similar error in another install of mine when I try to run the patch.

I have confirmed the error on a different test machine as well.

I have created a test install project that does almost nothing, and yet i still get a that access violation error. I do not understand why this is not working.

Can you provide a download URL for both your test project, and the built output file, along with the old version?

The test project and the compiled install and the compiled patch are in one zip file. I simply pointed the patch reference to the uncompressed output of the compiled project.

Thank you. This seems to be a bug introduced in the latest beta and we're taking a look at it.

This is not a problem that would be experienced with the current shipping version of InstallAware.

That's a pretty big bug. Anyway, I've rolled back to the official release version of installaware and am having no problems. I wish I didn't have to go back to a previous version though.
