Visual Basic 6 package

Postby alexlo » Tue May 29, 2007 2:45 pm

I downloaded the trial express version. I made a setup program for my VB6 program and I have 2 problems.
#1. When I did the installation setup program on a user's PC with windows XP, the setup program always prompt for Windows XP not updated but in fact all upates of XP had been done.
#2. When run my VB6 program, it said 'Active can't create object' and the program abort.

I would like the above 2 issues resolved before I purchase the installaware express. Please help!

#1: My experience has been the same. InstallAware deploys the VB6 SP6 run time files. My guess is that SP6 is not installed automatically with XP updates.

#2: Make sure that you are properly registering any ActiveX/COM DLLs or OCXs that you are installing. You can check the "File is self-registering DLL" option in the installation properties for the file. Alternatively, you can import the registry info by clicking the "Import" button at the bottom of the IA Registry screen and then selecting the DLL or OCX file you are installing.
