Post build events?

Postby Mateo » Thu Aug 30, 2007 1:24 pm

Does InstallAware have any post build event type functionality like VS or InstallShield does?

I'd like to be able to copy my installer onto a network drive after it has been built and being the lazy person that I am I'd like it to happen automagically when I hit the build button. :D

If this isn't possible from within the InstallAware GUI, is it possible to build the installer from JScript or a batch file?

Thanks!

In the design tab, goto "Deployment"-->"Build Settings"

In this screen setup the output fields. You can direct your build to any drive in your network.

Thanks for your quick reply!

That doesn't exactly work for me because there are other files and folders in the folder I want my installer to go after it's built.

If I use a custom output folder and point it to Z:\\Installers\\MyApp\\ for instance, the final installer ends up in Z:\\Installers\\MyApp\\Release\\Single\\. If I were to place the files I need in \\Release\\Single\\ they will be deleted during the build process.

Thanks again.

Read Building from the Command Line in IA help contents. You should be able to build from a batch file.
