I'm looking for a document on the steps to create a simple application (notepad and a txt file would be fine like in the "installaware_patching" doc), that would be web based so that when the installer runs, it would look to a website for the files to install, and not be included in the installer itself. Is this possible? I would want to configure the updates to the application in the same manner.
My ultimate goal is this: a client could open a secure web page (or run setup.exe from a CD) and launch the installation of the base application. Once the base install is complete, depending on the installation key entered, the installation routine would go out to a corresponding secure website that would install the dataset for that particular installation key (language information, etc).
Can this be done with InstallAware? The documentation I've read seems to indicate that it is possible, particularly using the patch functionality.
Thanka in advance!

We are still working on a whitepaper about web updates that will be similar to the InstallAware_patching whitepaper. For now, we only have the help file as documentation. You may also play a little with the updates script by checking the "Receive Application Updates" checkbox in the Project Properties of the Design view.

OK, but short answer, this is possible with InstallAware, yes? I don't want to spend the time trying to do something that can not be done. Per the previous posted "ultimate goal" scenario, this functionality is available in InstallAware 7, yes?. And would the solution include custom code, or can it be done through the IA interface as it is now?
I'll also be happy to post the steps on how I got this to work once accomplished for all to enjoy

Yes it can be done in IA. It will require custom code since there is not a sample project available for what you want.
