DotNet Runtime PreRequisite error

Post by BrianJonker »

Hello at Installaware.

I have created an install project with Web-Blocks for Installer 3.0 and Framework 2.0
I have uploaded the resultant .7ZIP files to my website.

Then I try to install from the Website onto a CLEAN Win200(SP4) system.

It downloads the Prerequsite files from the web (I can see the downloads happening). When the downloads are done, I get the error "Unable to load Plug-In library"

What is this Plug-in library ?
I have installed .7ZIP on the target machine, to no avail.
Where do I find an Error-Log to see more detail of the problem ?

What am I missing ?

Please help,

Brian

When you use a plug in inside IA, such as runtime applications, dll files are copied into your project. Please make sure you are not removing those dll's because they are called at run time.

I am having the same error - can't find plugin library. Shouldn't this be caught at compile time????

Renaming the web block for the framework

Post by tj »

I had the same error. It appears to have been a result of my renaming the web media block to remove the spaces in the file name and the block name.

I unchecked/rechecked the prerequisite block, took the default name, and the problem went away. I renamed all of the others as well with no problem. I'm guessing this is just an issue with the Framework installations.

This would be an issue with all installer code that makes use of plug-ins.

You can rename the web media block files to anything you like, but in that case you must make sure that the web media blocks are downloadable from the exact URLs specified in the Web Media Block statements in the MSIcode script.

One nice feature is that you can specify multiple URLs to add support for redundancy.
