Update patch fails when Silent=Yes

Post by Blacky »

As the title says, if I set Silent=Yes in the updates.ini file, the patch built but IA downloads ok but fails to update the exe file that it should. Unfortunately because silent is "Yes" I don't see what is happening during the failed patch install.

With absolutely everything left the same, if i only change the Silent=Yes to Silent=No in the updates.ini file the patch installs correctly and the exe file is updated correctly.

The patch I have implemented is just a test and it installs an updated executable file that simply changes the application's background color from white to red.

Any ideas why this is happening?
Or any ideas what else I can try to see what is causing the failure when Silent=Yes?

The updates.ini file I am using - if that helps any...

My bad :(

I was just not waiting long enough for the patch to be installed.

Evidently the previous version is uninstalled first (evidenced by watching the folders disappear from Windows Explorer), then the patch is applied/merged with the original sources. That took about 30-40 seconds (evidenced by the folders re-appearing).

I was imaptiently checking to see if the update had completed even before the existing version had been unistalled. Time to add a balloon indicating that the install is complete...

Sorry for the false alarm.
