Customizing Visual Studio InstallAware project

Post by FBilda »

Hi all,

I'm using InstallAware 8, which has an integration in Visual Studio to create, build and manage a setup project belonging to the current solution.
This integration comes with Version 8.

Before upgrading to version 8, I've used Verison 7, and created a setup with IA for my Visual project independantly. Of course it would be great, if I could now build and manage this existing project from within Visual Studio. But it seems, that the IA plugin uses a fixed named subproject under my solution directory called "InstallAware" and store the project settings in an xml file with solutionname.
Moreover, launching InstallAware via the plugin is not possible. Nothing happens when chosing this menu in VS.

So my question is, can I change this, that the plugin uses my existing IA project ?

Sorry, the plugin is not designed to maintain existing projects, but only to create new projects from scratch, and maintain new projects that it has created explicitly.

If you have an existing project, you ought to maintain it externally. If you have a new project created in the VS IDE, it can be made such that it is maintained both automatically and externally - read the help file which discusses the settings necessary for this.
