Reading binary data from registry in IA6, or copying a key?

Post by pfennig »

We would like to store some registry entries that have been created by a program and might contain binary values to another location. How can this be accomplished in IA6?

You cannot write binary data in InstallAware 6, but you can in InstallAware 8. Now would be a great time to upgrade - version 6 is three years old!

Thank you, Michael, and I'm sorry. I actually meant IA7, but I suppose it isn't possible there either?

If your Write Registry command dialog box has an option to write binary data, then yes you can. Frankly I don't remember if this was added in a 7.x version or the 8.0 release.
