self-register .exe activex object

Post by dunion »

I am installing an .exe that is also an activex object, as well as a separate .ocx file; I tried the 'self register .dll' option but that fails. What is the correct way? The scripted 'register' seems to only do the same thing but allow me to control the order of registration.

Yes, try the scripted and set the proper order. Windows Installer natively does not permit setting order.

Order didn't seem to be the problem

The things are independent enough so that each should register independent of the other; I got failed registration messages. I'm trying script now - this has to work on Vista with UAC enabled, by the way, not just XP.

Thanks...

May be system settings dependent. I'll let you know.
