Can't Install IA 9.01

Post by jsmith »

We are currently using IA 9.01. When I installed it, I told it to backup all of the downloaded files. If I try to run InstallAware.exe to install it again on another computer, selecting the same plugins that I installed on the first computer, it tries to extract the .7zip files, fails, and has to re-download them. Why do the cached files not work?

This problem is compounded by the fact that for the past couple of days, a new employee has been trying to install IA 9.01 on his computer and it fails repeatedly to download the files from InstallAware's server. He cannot install InstallAware 9.01 on his computer. A couple of other people here have tried it since and have gotten the same result.

You should upgrade to 9.02 - the password has been changed and all web media blocks have been updated as a result; the license account is also serving 9.02 licenses with bugfixes so you should not stay on 9.01.

OK, thanks. While I certainly like seeing frequent updates to the product, I don't necessarily agree with taking away the ability for customers to install the previous version. Before we roll out an update of IA site-wide, time needs to be allocated to test it with our project setup on one machine. The updated IA software needs to be approved for site-wide roll-out. If someone needs to install IA between the time you put out a new release and when we approve that release for site-wide roll-out, he should be able to install the currently-approved version.
